WHAT IS FRONTLINE MANAGEMENT?

Frontline Management is part of a national development strategy for managers.

It came about after an international study into Australia's ability to compete in the global market. This study showed that frontline managers need to develop their understanding of their role and their management competencies – especially in the people side of management – if Australia is to compete successfully.

The Frontline Management program is designed to help frontline managers, supervisors and team leaders develop and assess and gain recognition for their management competencies.

WHY FRONTLINE  MANAGEMENT?

Frontline managers, supervisors and team leaders hold the keys to performance, profitability, customer satisfaction and employee retention.

They are often promoted on the basis of their work ethic and technical skills, and may have received little or no formal training in management.

Yet they are expected to demonstrate a range of competencies in their work - manage work, projects and budgets, manage the team, manage individuals, manage the environment, manage compliance - in a changing and challenging environment!

So, to turn survive and turn the keys to success frontline managers need to develop knowledge and skills. And to ensure they are properly rewarded and can move from one employer to another, they need transportable qualifications for their competency.

CAN FRONTLINE MANAGEMENT TRAINING LEAD TO QUALIFICATIONS?

Yes. Participation in Frontline Management development can lead to the following nationally recognised statements or qualifications:

Statement of Attainment of a Specific Competency

Certificate III in Business (Frontline Management)

Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management)

Diploma of Business (Frontline Management)

The qualification depends on the number of units achieved and the level at which competency is assessed.

Units and levels are determined according to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF - a national policy framework that defines all competency based qualifications beyond high school).

WHAT LEVEL PROGRAM IS RELEVANT TO ME?

You will work with your manager and/or SkillsCentral advisor to select the units and levels most relevant to

your knowledge & experience

the demands of your work

the Frontline Management Units, Elements and Criteria.

If you undertake assessment at, say, Level III, and later wish to progress to a Diploma as your work changes, you can submit additional evidence for the higher level for units already completed and/or complete the additional units to scale up to Certificate IV or to Diploma.
